  • SLCF Elaine Ray, owner and operator of Peacocks Floral in Clinton is all smiles after being spotted by the prize patrol wearing her "Shop Laurens County First" t-shirt. She was awarded $20 in Laurens County Bucks for showing her spirit for the local campaign. Participating business owners will have a chance to win each Friday between now and the end of the year by wearing their SLCF shirts, and shoppers can register to be entered into a monthly drawing for $200in LC Bucks at all participating locations.

  • Celebrate Home Based Business The Laurens County Chamber of Commerce has seen a surge in home based business members in recent months and is pleased to welcome Twinz Banners and More to the organization's membership. Matt Strange, center, is joined by his wife, Cindy, and twin son and daughter as he cuts the ribbon for his new business venture. Strange operates his business from his home on Ranch Road in Laurens and offers banners, signs, vehicle wraps and a number of other marketing and promotional products.   • PhotoGrand Opening Celebration Ronald McDonald was on hand to help Julia Skipper and her staff celebrate the official grand opening of the new McDonald's in downtown Clinton on June 10th. The old restaurant, which had occupied the site for two decades, was torn down earlier this year to make way for the new building. The new restaurant includes all of the modern amenities including free Wi-Fi.

  • New Location Jeff Burns, center, financial advisor at the EdwardJones Investments office in Clinton, prepares to cut the ribbon celebrating the offices relocation to the corner of Pitts and Musgrove Streets in the downtown business district. A good crowd was on hand for the June 10th grand opening and enjoyed tours of the newly remodeled building and a delicious assortment of refreshments.

  • Party by the Pool More than 140 people registered to attend the Party by the Pool Business After Hours held on May 27, 2010 at the Lakeside Country Club in Laurens, South Carolina. The event was sponsored by the Laurens County Development Corporation and honored existing industries from across the county.

  • New Retail Shop The Clinton Business Association and the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce teamed up on May 26 to host a ribbon cutting at Joyeux Fabrics. Located in an historic building at 223 West Main Street in Clinton, the business offers a wide variety of fabrics and sewing material complimented by wood beam ceilings and exposed brick walls. Joyeux Fabrics is the newest addition to the 550 member strong Laurens County Chamber of Commerce.

  • Celebrates Anniversary Dave Allison, center, cuts the ribbon as the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce joins Got Signal Alltel Store in Clinton in the celebration of their first year anniversary in business at their South Broad Street location. The celebration included a live radio broadcast, free pizza and the latest Alltel specials on phone packages.

  • Opens New Practice The Laurens County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the grand opening of Gateway Clinic of Chiropractic with Dr. Justin Snider with a ribbon cutting on April 29th. The office is located at 359 East Main Street in Laurens in a newly remodeled building. Dr. Snider is a graduate of Newberry College and Sherman College of Chiropractic. He is certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. The Gateway Clinic of Chiropractic can be reached by phone at 864.681.0555.

  • Photo Small Business Honored The Artist’s Coop, a cooperative of local artists, was honored April 26 as Laurens County Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Quarter for the First Quarter of 2010. The Artist’s Coop maintains a gallery of local art work for sale at their shop in downtown Laurens supported by an all-volunteer group. They host a number special events throughout the year including art shows and classes. The gallery is a stop for many of the tourist who visit Laurens County each year. The business is now eligible for the Robert M. Vance Small Business of the Year award to be presented at the Chamber’s annual meeting in early 2011. Mike Johnson and Greg Alexander, representing the Chamber of Commerce, flank the award winning artist including B.J. Turner, Jeanette Jansen, Elizabeth Morris and Fay Edge.


  • Photo Ambassador Honored Laura Campbell, center, of Promotions Unlimited, was named Ambassador of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2010 by the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce. Campbell is one of nearly two dozen volunteer Ambassadors who support the Chamber by assisting with special events, membership recruitment and retention, and annual member surveys. She is now eligible for Ambassador of the Year to be presented in January 2011.   • Photo Volunteer Honored The Laurens County Chamber of Commerce presented the Friend of the Chamber award to Elizabeth Morris during the organization’s regular board meeting on April 26th. The award recognizes Morris for her dedication to improving the quality of life in Laurens County through the promotion of the arts and for her dedication to maintaining a revolving gallery of local art work at the Chamber of Commerce office.   • Chamber Welcomes New Member Leigh Anne Scogin, center, cuts the ribbon as the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce welcomes Palmetto Equestrian Therapeutic Riding Program as its newest member at a ribbon cutting on April 15. Those in attendance were able to tour the horse stables and learn more about the program that serves persons with disabilities and special needs. The non-profit organization is located at 4000 Hurricane Church Road in Clinton. Scogin is the program coordinator and instructor.

  • Photo Local Chamber Participates in Regional Event For the second year in a row, the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce participated in the Upstate Regional Business After Hours at the Drive Stadium in downtown Greenville. The April 6 event drew a crowd of more than 1,000 business professionals and more than a dozen participating Chambers of Commerce. The local chamber staff was able to network with professionals from across the region and tell them more about business opportunities in Laurens County.

  • Sipes Lawn Service Joins Chamber Lee Sipes, center, cuts the ribbon celebrating his new membership in the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce. Sipes Lawn Service offers all types of residential and commercial lawn maintenance and tree trimming with discounts to senior citizens and churches. The business joins a growing number of home-based ventures that have recently joined the Chamber.   • Brian Reese named new athletics director at Presbyterian College Vanderbilt University’s associate director of student athletics Brian Reese has been named the new director of athletics at Presbyterian College. PC president Dr. John Griffith made the announcement on Monday, April 5, following a national search that attracted more than 80 candidates. Read More.
