The Chamber Honors...

HONORED AMBASSADOR Judy Mattison, left, Reminisce Coordinator for the Alzheimer unit at Emerald Gardens Assisted Living in Greenwood, was recently honored as the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce Ambassador of the Third Quarter. Ms. Mattison, formerly an employee of Langston House Assisted Living in Clinton, was a very active Chamber volunteer before moving to her new position several months ago. Pictured presenting the award is Randall Frye, Vice-President of Member and Business Services for the Chamber.



SMALL BUSINESS HONORED Alvina Meeks and Carolyn O’Toole, center, of The Red Barn Restaurant, accepted the Small Business of the Fourth Quarter award from the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce during the December meeting of the Chamber’s board of directors. The Red Barn Restaurant is located on Trinity Church Road in Gray Court. They offer a menu of salads, seafood, steaks, chicken and pasta in addition to a variety of specials. The restaurant hosted a Lobster Festival in October that featured fresh Maine lobster. The honorees are pictured with, left, Chamber president and CEO Rob Clapper and Chamber Board Chairwoman Dixie Prickett.



A HALF CENTURY IN BUSINESS Thompson’s Nursery and Garden Center of Laurens was recently recognized as the Small Business of the Third Quarter by the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce. The business, founded in 1957, will celebrate 50 years of business in 2007. Thompson’s is well known across the upstate for their quality plant selections, garden items and landscaping/irrigation services. AMBASSADOR WINNER Joyce Holliday, center, of Hospice Care of South Carolina-Laurens County, was recently honored by the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce as the Chamber Ambassador of the Fourth Quarter. Mrs. Holliday is currently completing her first year of service on the Chambers board of directors. She has been an active Ambassador for nearly three years.
