Chairman's Message
by Dr. Bud Marchant, Chairman, Chamber Board of DirectorsOn the Move...Working Together
Laurens County is more than a reflection of our state’s strong rural heritage; this community is a fine example of upstate South Carolina’s potential. From agriculture to manufacturing, Laurens has become a growing vibrant county. Laurens residents and businesses have the right to be proud of their numerous accomplishments.
As the Chamber approaches it 30th anniversary it, like the county, is "on the move…working together." The restructuring of the past year has created a partnership between economic development and the chamber. This partnership is a victory for everyone. The chamber has been able to bring on board a new President/CEO whose enthusiasm and drive have already propelled the organization in a new exciting direction. This restructuring has also enabled us to unite all of the voices of the business community by bring representatives of Main Street Laurens, Main Street Clinton, Laurens First, the Clinton Economic Development Commission, and United Way onto the Chambers Board of Directors.
This reorganization can not be complete without you. I urge you to get involved. We have developed working committees in the areas of Education/Workforce Development, Tourism and Retirement, Government Relations, and Membership Development. Membership on these committees is open to all chamber members. The Chamber’s ambassadors program is a great way for people to meet others and network with area business and industry. The Chamber also sponsors numerous events and opportunities for businesses to get together and promote their products and services. Information about all of these events and specific information about our committees and the ambassadors program are at our newly revamped web site www.laurenscounty.org.
Yes, the Chamber is on the move! We are working together! The future looks bright. Be a part of it.
I look forward to an exciting and prosperous 2007!
Dr. Bud Marchant
