Thornwell’s Board of Visitors recognized Norman Dover with their Distinguished Service Award on April 26, 2007. Dover has been an educator at Thornwell for 23 years.

Following graduation from Presbyterian College, Dover joined the Thornwell Schools faculty in 1984. He has taught English, drama, and science and has been a strong advocate for the school’s Accelerated Reader Program. Dover has also served as assistant principal of the combined Thornwell schools, as coach and athletic director. Currently he is principal of Hartness-Thornwell Elementary School.

During the past year and a half, Dover has worked with a community-based Charter School Committee as project manager. With the closing of the Thornwell schools in May, Dover will remain at Thornwell heading up an academic support team that will provide tutoring and educational resourcing for Thornwell’s residential children.

Dover and his wife, Robin, have three sons, Trent, Ryan and Aaron.
