Chamber CEO selected for the 2008 Leadership - South Carolina Class
Leadership South Carolina, the state’s oldest and most respected leadership development program, has announced that Rob Clapper, President and CEO of the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce, has been named to its Class of 2008.
Leadership South Carolina, now in its 30th year, is the state’s oldest and most respected leadership development program. The program accepts 50 participants a year who have demonstrated commitment to their community and strive to reach a higher level of service to the Palmetto State.
The nine-month program incorporates the state's experts in various fields to explore natural resources, quality of life, economic development, education, social issues and diversity in seven three-day sessions held around the state. At each session, participants meet additional professionals, business executives, community and government leaders and social change agents who network and encourage them to pursue positive change in South Carolina.
Earlier this month, the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce was also selected as a finalist for the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives National Chamber of the Year for their efforts in tourism promotion and new member services.
"Rob is a leader in every sense of the word," said Dr. Bud Marchant chairman of the board of the Laurens County Chamber. "He’s made major contributions to the chamber, the community and now he’s got the chance to do the same for the state. We’re proud of his dedicated service."
Before joining the Laurens County Chamber, Clapper worked as a member of the Presbyterian College fundraising department after concluding a very successful Army career.
Rob and his wife Kerri have three children and live in Clinton.
