It's often said that tough times reveal character. At the Laurens County Development Corporation, we believe that's true. And, here in Laurens County it's in our character to see economic difficulties and downturns as opportunities for long-term growth.

We're optimist about the future, and we're excited about many ongoing projects:

· a new 1 million gallon water tank in Owings Industrial park

· Presbyterian College Pharmacy School under construction

· a new Dollar General retail store

· a new Bojangles family restaurant

· a new Wal-Mart Supercenter

· a new Waffle House family restaurant

· a 40,000 square foot manufacturing addition to BF Shaw;

· a new Family Video;

· a new Walgreens

· a new $45 million high school in the city of Clinton.

These projects are in addition to 2008 being Laurens County best year ever for capital investments (totalling $618.5 million) and third best year in jobs creation (690 new jobs announced).

In order to continue growing the economy in Laurens County, LCDC will attend Retail Industry Leaders Association Logistics Conference and International Plastics Showcase.
