O'Dell Expands in Ware Shoals
Laurens County’s oldest manufacturer, The O’Dell Corporation is expanding its operations in Ware Shoals. The company was founded in 1945 by William O’Dell Sr. upon his return from World War II. According to John Stroud, President/CEO the company will add over 50,000 SF of office and warehouse over the next two years. The current 150,000 SF facility serves markets in North America and Mexico. The company will also invest in new equipment to better meet its customer’s needs. The company makes performance driven cleaning products. Chip O’Dell, Chief Operating Officer for the company indicated the expansion was the result of a continuing growth in its business and will position the company for future growth.
South Carolina House District 14 Representative Mike Pitts expressed his appreciation to O’Dell for creating jobs in the Ware Shoals area. “This is a prime example that domestic companies can compete in the global economy” he said. Joe Woods Jr. District 2 County Council member said he was very happy that jobs are being created in his district. According to Council Chairman Jim Coleman, infrastructure that will be added to support this project will aid the entire area and hopefully will create other industrial opportunities. Danny Verdin, SC Senator District 9 complemented The O’Dell Corporation, SC Department of Commerce, local utilities and local officials for partnering to make this project a reality.
The company will invest $2.5 million over the next two-three years and will increase its workforce by approximately 50 people over the same time frame according to Marvin Moss Executive Director of the Laurens County Development Corporation.
