Anderson Family of Fine Hardwood Floors Expands in Clinton
The Anderson Family of Fine Hardwood Floors, one of Laurens County's oldest manufactures and fourth generation family owned company, announced plans to expand their operations in South Carolina. The company was founded by Andy Anderson in 1946 under the name Standard Plywoods. In 1958, Standard Plywoods acquired Modern wood's manufacturing plant in Clinton.
According to the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Donald Finkell, the company has purchased the former Sodatel building in Fountain Inn (the Bob Anderson Design Center) and the former Consolidated Fabricators building here in Clinton, South Carolina to meet their expanding demands. "These acquisitions will allow us to increase our production, add new product lines, and better distribute our products and services to our customers and distributors" he continued.
The Bob Anderson Design Center in Fountain Inn will serve as a distribution and design center, showroom and sales office, while the former Consolidated Fabricators building, located on Torrington Road near the main facility, will house additional manufacturing capabilities and our new administrative offices according to Finkell. The company will continue operations at its existing facility where other renovations are also planned. In addition to their largest facility in Clinton, The Anderson Family of Companies also has manufacturing facilities in Walterboro and Fairfax South Carolina, Maine, and Mississippi.
Marvin Moss, Executive Director for the Laurens County Development Corporation, stated that he has been working with Anderson representatives on the possibility of expanding in Laurens County since late 2005. The company will invest approximately $7 million and will hire an additional 100 employees. "There is a lot of excitement about this expansion and other possibilities here in the county," Moss said.
Jim Coleman, Chairman of County Council and of the Laurens County Development Corporation stated "We are beginning to see an upswing in the economy with both new companies looking at the county and existing companies like Anderson expanding. I believe the outlook is improving and we are excited about our potential," he continued.
"We really appreciate Anderson Hardwood Floors having confidence in Laurens County to choose to do their expansion in Clinton" said District 6 County Council member Diane Anderson. "We are very excited about this announcement" said Jeff Duncan District15 SC House Representative. "Anderson Hardwood is one of the county’s most steady employers and they produce a quality product which is shipped around the world".
