Plastics Company Brings Fun Science Program
to Three Local Schools

Gray Court, South Carolina Local plastic film producer, ISO Poly Films, celebrates its 10 Year Anniversary and commitment to education by bringing the internationally acclaimed PlastiVan™ science program to three Laurens County schools. The PlastiVan will be at Hickory Tavern Elementary on Monday, April 21, 2008; Laurens Elementary on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 and Gray Court-Owings School on Friday, April 25, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.

So much more than another school assembly program! When the PlastiVan arrives at each school this week, the instructor will teach students about the science of plastics during their regular class periods. Students will be provided with their own polymeric science kits as the instructor guides them through exciting, hands-on experiments demonstrating the chemistry and properties of plastics. The history and sustainability issues of plastics will be discussed, as well as the many career opportunities available in the plastics industry. A product of the National Plastics Center (NPC) in Leominster, Mass., the PlastiVan program travels to schools throughout the United States teaching nearly 50,000 students a year about the science of plastics with the goal of inspiring a new generation of scientists and innovators. For more information, contact Betty Coleman at (781) 337-7127; email bcoleman@plasticsindustry.org, or visit the NPC Web site at http://www.plasticsmuseum.org/plastivan.html.

"Over the years the United States has seen a decline in students pursuing post-secondary education in the areas of science and engineering which impacts our ability to compete in a global market place," said ISO Poly Films’ Founder and CEO Jon McClure. "The PlastiVan provides us with an opportunity to help teachers enhance their science curriculum and create enthusiasm. It also makes students aware of the exciting career opportunities that ISO Poly Films offers."
