LCDC Unveils Strategic Action Economic
Development Plan

The Laurens County Development Corporation (LCDC) unveiled its Strategic Action Economic Development Plan on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at the Laurens County Higher Education Center with approximately 60 people in attendance. The dynamic, forward-thinking plan suggests building on core strengths of the current economic development program.

Attendees learned that Laurens County is thought to be a leader in product development, and within the region, LCDC is the most efficient economic development organization at leveraging regional resources to achieve its goals.

LCDC's current success comes as a results of concentrating on product development, marketing, and existing business retention and expansion and has lead to recent announcements of capital investments totaling almost $600 million.

The new Strategic Action Economic Development Plan builds on LCDC's existing strengths while at the same time broadening the organization's mission to include to a wider definition of economic development.

The Strategic Action Economic Development Plan was developed by Sanford Holshouser Business Development Group, a consulting firm hired to assist with the planning process. Santee Cooper and South Carolina Power Team co-sponsored the strategic planning process by providing generous financial assistance.
