- Laurens CPW Receives National Safety and Reliability Certification The American Public Power Association (APPA) recently awarded the Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) Platinum Award to the Laurens Commission of Public Works (CPW) for its outstanding achievement in providing safe and reliable electricity to its customers. The CPW is currently one of only one hundred and forty four public power utilities in the United States and one of only four utilities in South Carolina to receive this designation. Read More

- Koerber LLC to Locate its First North American Facility in Laurens
County Automotive Supplier to Bring 70 New Jobs to the Area The South Carolina Department of
Commerce and Laurens County Development Corporation recently announced that
Koerber LLC will locate its first production outside of Germany in
Laurens County. The Koerber LLC will make substantial investments of
several million dollars over the next several years into this new plant
to establish and grow its position in the market. In an initial phase
the company will occupy a 50,000 sq ft facility in the Hunter Industrial
Park in Laurens County.

today announced the celebration of 10 years in business.
- LCDC Names New Executive Director The Laurens County Development Corporation (LCDC) has hired Marvin Moss as their new Executive Director. After discussing the personnel matter while in Executive Session, the motion was made to offer Marvin Moss the Executive Director position for the LCDC. Moss has been working as Senior Project Manager for LCDC and acting as Interim Executive Director since the inception of the organization. Read More Here

Fisher Barton South Carolina, Inc. to Expand its Laurens County Facility The South Carolina Department of Commerce and Laurens County today announced that Fisher Barton South Carolina, Inc. will expand its operations in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. The company will invest approximately $3.5 million as a result of the expansion furthering its commitment to the Laurens County community.
- Avery Dennison Produces Stamps and More There are only four places in the United States that make postage stamps for the US Postal Service, and one of those is the Avery Dennison plant in Clinton, South Carolina. In a 86,000 square foot factory, around 115 people work to produce more than 11 billion stamps each year.
- Eddie Lathan Honored Each year, during Industry Appreciation week, the Governor of South Carolina recognizes individuals from the private sector from each of the 46 counties for their contributions to further community and economic development initiatives throughout the state. Upstate Alliance Completes Successful Trip to Canada A group of over twenty representatives from the Upstate area recently completed a successful economic development mission trip to Canada. The trip was organized by the Upstate Alliance, a private/public group that markets the ten county region of the upstate of South Carolina.

New Facility at Woodfield Industrial Park Tiger Enterprises and Trading Inc. in conjunction with the Laurens County Development Corporation and the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce conducted a ribbon cutting in celebration of the opening of there new facility in Woodfield Industrial Park.
At the groundbreaking for a 100,000 square feet expansion at Anderson Hardwood Floors manufacturing facilities on Torrington Road in Clinton. The expansion will add 100 jobs at the plant. - Anderson Hardwood Floors Launches Expansion at Clinton Facility The Anderson family of Fine hardwood Floors has embarked on one of the most extensive construction periods in its history with an expansion of its Clinton plants and facilities. The company will be adding over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space bringing total manufacturing space to over 160,000 square feet. The company will also be adding over 100 new jobs totaling over 600 employees in the state. More>>

- Moss Earns SCCED Marvin Moss recently earned the South Carolina Certified Economic Developer status by completing the South Carolina Economic Developers’ Advanced Symposium held at the College of Charleston. The certification is viable for two years with re-certification required through the Professional Development Committee of South Carolina Economic Developers Association. The Symposium is a five day course designed to provide an advanced education experience in theory and fundamentals of economic development in South Carolina. It is presented by the South Carolina Economic Development Association, Tate School of Business at the College of Charleston and the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
The Symposium covered a range of topics including Civil Engineering, Financing, Utilities, Incentives, Cost Benefit Analysis and Media Relations. Testing was conducted at the end of each day on topics presented. A project had to completed and presented to a team of peers to graduate. Moss was on a team with two others that had to build an industrial park. The project consisted of selecting a site, determining all cost associated with the park and determining how the park was to be financed. The team presented their proposal on the final day.
Moss received a scholarship from the Palmetto Economic Development Corporation that covered all costs associated with attending the Symposium.
- ACI Industries to Locate in Laurens Marvin Moss, Laurens County Development Corporation, recently announced that ACI Industries, a manufacturer of ceramic products, has announced intentions to purchase the former Ceramtec No. 1 building on Highway 14 north of the City of Laurens. The company plans to invest approximately $10,000,000 over a five-year period and to hire approximately 100 employees over that same time frame. - Faurecia Adds New Product Line in Fountain Inn Automotive supplier Faurecia is expanding its Fountain Inn complex to add a vehicle seating program according to Laurens County Development Corporation Executive Director Marvin Moss. The company plans to invest $24 million during the next five years and will add approximately 50 new jobs at the facility, Moss said. Faurecia is located in Laurens County’s Woodfield Industrial Park.

- LCDC Debutes New Web Site The newly formed Laurens County Development Corporation debuted their new web site in January of 2007. Sharing domain space with the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce, LCDC's new set of pages reflects its ongoing committment to facilitating economic development and industrial growth in the county. "There are many improvements over our previous site," said Marvin Moss. "As economic development in Laurens County has grown, we have found much more information to offer and our new Web site does that quickly and efficiently." Developed by Lohman Hills Creative, LLC, the new site offers visitors a more streamlined experience. "Lohman Hills built the Chamber's first web site back in 1999 and they have worked with us for nearly a decade expanding our footprint online," says Moss. The shared domain received more than 100,000 hits in December of 2006.
- Leitch Visits the Upstate The Upstate Alliance hosted David Leitch, General Counsel and Senior Vice President, Ford Motor Company on January 23rd at the Upstate Alliance offices in Greenville. Mr. Leitch made a presentation on Ford’s path forward including several new product lines that are being introduced. Laurens County Administrator Ernie Segars and Marvin Moss attended the function.

- Japan Marketing Trip Marvin Moss, Laurens County Development Corporation and Mike Panasko Manager Business Development Upstate Alliance visited Japan in November. The trip was arranged by the Upstate Alliance in conjunction with the South Carolina Department of Commerce Tokyo Office. The group met with six companies and attended the Plastics Industrial Fair 2006. The visits included an introduction to the upstate of South Carolina with emphasis on the new Clemson International Center for Automotive Research.
- O'Dell Expands in Ware Shoals Laurens County’s oldest manufacturer, The O’Dell Corporation is expanding its operations in Ware Shoals. The company was founded in 1945 by William O’Dell Sr. upon his return from World War II. According to John Stroud, President/CEO the company will add over 50,000 SF of office and warehouse over the next two years. The current 150,000 SF facility serves markets in North America and Mexico. The company will also invest in new equipment to better meet its customer’s needs. More>>
- Anderson Family of Fine Hardwood Floors Expands in Clinton The Anderson Family of Fine Hardwood Floors, one of Laurens County's oldest manufactures and fourth generation family owned company, announced plans to expand their operations in South Carolina. The company was founded by Andy Anderson in 1946 under the name Standard Plywoods. In 1958, Standard Plywoods acquired Modern wood's manufacturing plant in Clinton. More>>
