Utilities
Laurens County is proud of its affordable, dependable energy supply. Area businesses also find an abundance of clean water from these suppliers.
- City of Clinton: City of Clinton serves residential, commercial, and industrial customers providing water, sewage, and electric services. The water source is the Enoree River (capacity=6 MGD, excess capacity=2.8 MGD). The City operates its own sewage collection system with treatment by the Laurens County Water and Sewer Commission wastewater treatment plant. Electricity is provided from power purchased through the Piedmont Municipal Power Agency (PMPA).
- Clinton-Newberry Natural Gas Authority (CNNGA): CNNGA has 6" and 8" transmission lines to deliver natural gas to residential, commercial, and industrial customers in the City of Clinton and county areas East/Southeast of US 221. It has 750 miles of distribution lines. Daily usage is 17,000 dekatherms, with a 2,000 dekatherm/day excess capacity.
- Duke Power: Duke Power Company is one of the nation's largest investor-owned electric utilities. Duke Power has a generating capability of 18,137,000 kilowatts delivered from coal-fired stations, nuclear-fueled steam stations, hydroelectric stations, other utilities, and oil and gas.
- Laurens Commission of Public Works (CPW): Laurens Commission of Public Works (CPW) is a citizen-created, not-for-profit, locally owned utility. LCPW serves residential, commercial, and industrial customers, supplying reliable service while maintaining competitive rates. The water capacity of the treatment plant is 8.3 MGD, with 5.5 MGD available for new customers. The waste treatment plant has a capacity of 4.5 MGD, with 2.8 MGD available for new customers. LCPW also provides natural gas for process as well as for heat.
- Laurens County Water & Sewer: Laurens County Water & Sewer provides water service to all of the county--except for the Cities of Clinton, Gray Court, and Laurens--with a water capacity of 5 MGD and a 3.0 MGD excess capacity. Lake Rabon, located West/Northwest of the City of Laurens, is the water supply. It serves the City of Clinton and selected unincorporated areas of the county with sewer. The capacity is 2.75 MGD with 1.05 MGD in excess capacity at its Joanna treatment plant.
- Laurens Electric Cooperative: Laurens Electric Cooperative, Inc. is a member-owned rural electric cooperative providing service to commercial and industrial consumers in a seven county area.
