Spotlight on the Ambassador ... Meet Melinda Gray

Tell us about yourself.

I am married for 40 years and have one son and a bonus daughter. I have the best network of friends and support system. I am fortunate to have a career I love that has enabled me to be a part of our community.

Where do you work and what is your title?

I work with Palmetto Heritage Real Estate and have been her going on 29 years. I am an associate broker and appraiser. I love my job and have been blessed with an awesome work family. I love helping buyers and sellers to achieve the next step in their lives. I have made lifelong friends and am proud to represent multi generations within a family.

Tell us about your roles with the Chamber.

I have worked with the Ambassador program for at least 12 years. I was part of the committee for diversity, it was educational and inciteful. I love helping with the Oyster Roast each year except for a few years. I love working with the chamber and it has provided lifelong friendships and so many networking opportunities. I am proud of the growth within the Chamber and it’s positive impact on Laurens County.

Why do you love Laurens County?

Laurens is HOME. I have lived here 46 years, yes, I am old. My husband is from Laurens. Our community is so supportive and welcoming. We are small and don’t have everything to offer that larger counties do but we have some of the best citizens you will find anywhere. I love shopping in the smaller quaint stores, the support small businesses give one another, people knowing you by name, and the wonderful sense of community. It may be nice to visit or vacation but it is always wonderful to come back home. I had a health issue this year and I was overwhelmed by the cards, messages, offers to help me with anything needed, and love I was shown. It reminded me of what a wonderful place Laurens is and why I am proud to call it home.
