LITTER CONTROL, RECYCLING, & BEAUTIFICATION IN LAURENS COUNTY

LITTER INDEX & REPORTING

LITTER INDEX

The Community Appearance, also called the Litter Index, developed by Keep America Beautiful, is a nationwide tool used to measure the presence of litter along roadways. Keep Laurens County Beautiful uses this index to monitor local litter levels and track the success of our cleanup efforts. With the help of trained volunteers, we visually assess designated routes and score them on a scale from one (no litter) to four (extremely littered). This information helps us identify problem areas and guide future cleanup initiatives.

Keep Laurens County Beautiful partners with the Laurens County Sheriff’s Department, County of Laurens Administration, City of Clinton Administration, Clinton Public Safety, City of Laurens Administration, Laurens Police Department, Main Street Laurens, Town of Gray Court and citizens in Waterloo, Cross Hill, Joanna, Kinards, and Fountain Inn. These agencies and municipalities have implemented programs to collect litter, provide educational resources, and warn violators of the consequences of littering.
