Ambassador Spotlight: Becca Dobbins

Becca Dobbins

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Becca Dobbins, and I recently celebrated my 30th birthday. I reside in Greenwood, SC with my husband, Matthew, and our lively household of 13 animals - including 6 dogs, 3 cats, 3 chickens, and a bearded dragon. In my free time, I find joy in exploring new destinations, indulging in true crime podcasts, and catching up on some much-needed rest through napping.

Where do you work and what is your title?

As the Community Engagement Coordinator at Thornwell, I have the privilege of connecting with individuals and spreading awareness about Thornwell's mission. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is meeting new people and educating them about the various programs Thornwell has to offer. It is always a pleasure to share the impact we make in the community and the services we provide. Many individuals are unaware of the breadth of programs available at Thornwell, so I take great joy in enlightening them about our initiatives and the difference we are striving to make in the community.

What motivated you to become an ambassador for our organization?

My unfamiliarity with this area prompted me to become an ambassador. This role has afforded me the opportunity to engage with numerous community leaders in Laurens County and cultivate meaningful relationships with them.

What makes Laurens County special to you?

I was unaware of the abundance of nonprofits in the Laurens area. It is truly remarkable to see a dedicated community of individuals striving to create positive change, not only within our local community but also extending their impact to benefit all of South Carolina and beyond. I have found it incredibly rewarding to learn about these organizations and actively participate in some of their initiatives.

If you could have any fictional character as your best friend, who would it be and why?

One character that I absolutely adore is Lorelai Gilmore from the TV show Gilmore Girls. I have watched this show at least 10 or 12 times, and I am always captivated by Lorelai's witty sense of humor. Whenever I've had a rough day, this is the show I turn to for a pick-me-up. Lorelai's charm and quick wit never fail to put a smile on my face!
