Meet our Ambassadors: Lacresha Dowdy

Meet our Ambassadors: Lacresha Dowdy

Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Lacresha Dowdy, and I would consider myself to be a free spirit. I believe that if you can think about it, you should at least try and do it. If whatever you try doesn't work out the way you wanted it to, at least you tried something new. Life is a journey, and you never really know what is coming next.

Where do you work, and what's your role? What do you enjoy most about what you do?

I work for Thornwell as the Human Resources Coordinator. The thing I enjoy most about my job is the diversity of the work and the overall helping of my coworkers, but anyone that comes on campus.

How long have you been an Ambassador, and what's a personal or professional "win" you've experienced through your Chamber involvement?

This is my second year as a Chamber Ambassador; a professional win that I have experienced with the Chamber is being able to help my business "buddies". I have a few businesses that have now turned into friends, and working with them to help grow their business is a connection that will last a lifetime.  It's nothing better than seeing your friends succeed and continue with a successful business here in Laurens County.

What's one local business or hidden gem in Laurens County you think more people should discover?

I think that people need to visit PittsMusic because they have so much to offer. When you walk into the building, it is like it takes you to a whole new world of music. The amount of creativity in one space is amazing, from piano lessons to singing lessons, there is something for everyone. This amazing space is great for any celebration or business meeting because it is centrally located and has great parking.

If you could instantly learn a new skill or hobby, what would it be and why?

If I could learn anything new, it would be swimming because I love the water, but my arms and legs refuse to move at the same time. As much as I get in the water, you would think I knew how, but I don't. For some reason coordination didn't come in this package, but that doesn't keep me away for one the thing that bring me the most peace, water. I firmly believe that God protects babies and other types of people, so I will continue to take my chances until I learn.
